Soon to buy a CPU loop, have some questions. - Page 3

no not really, The bigger the res, the less you will have to top it off. Some water will evaporate through the tubing and you will occasionally have to top off the res.

A suggestion for you is to include a drain line at the lowest point of your loop to make draining the system a piece of cake. You should change the distilled water in your loop about every six months. Also I reccomend that you just use distilled water and some silver in the res(like a silver ring or silver hoop earing, steal one from your girlfriend or mom muhaha).

You will also want to flush out your radiators (with distilled water) before you put them in your loop. Sometimes there is flux and other residues left over from the manufacturing process.

Thanks for the info!

Now another question(sorry, but the more I research the more questions I get tongue.gif )

I've looked at the Alphacool UT60, and it is about $10 more than the RX360. I looked at Martin's site and it tops all the charts, but I don't know how that relates to real world performance over the RX360. What temp difference would I expect between the xspc and the alphacool rad?

From all the articles that I've read and also your reference links...it's a matter of 1*C~3*C difference. Honestly, buy what you can and you can change everything else later so you can just get a feeling for watercooling.

So far from all the threads I've read, the XSPC RX series is the best bang-for-buck rad you can get right now. (I'm personally waiting for the multi-port and crossflow XSPC EX rads)

Also the RX series are for medium to low speed fans, my RX 120 (w/ XSPC 750 Pump/Res Combo + RASA block) can cool my Athlon II 630 @ 3.5Ghz on prime95 with the following temps:

RX120 + AP15 P/P @ 50% speed

Ambients: 23*C ~ 25*C

Idle: 28*C~32*C

Load: 44*C ~ 47*C

RS240 + 2xAP15 Push @ 100% speed

Ambients: 23*C ~ 25*C

Idle: 27*C~30*C

Load: 43*C ~ 45*C
