So far there hasn't been a single 670 that's clocked even close to the one in the "hands on" thread. Coincidence?

I've seen several reviews of the Windforce Gigabyte OC 670 actually, and they all did quite well. The product is great, and the price is identical to reference... win/win.

Which ultra are you talking about? The 6800 Ultra mainly came in 256mb variants and brand new, it was between $500-600.

Yes, there was a 512mb version, but it was their version of the GTX 680 4GB -> it looks nice on paper, but there isn't any real tangible performance difference. In fact, the 256mb version's memory was clocked higher.

http://firingsquad.com/hardware/bfg_geforce_6800_ultra_oc_512mb/page3.asp

derp. I forgot it wasn't the only version. the 512mb ultra was $780-$800+ online and more at retail. kind of dumb of me to forget because I bought a 6800gt 256mb and my friend had an ultra with 256mb because the 512mb was so expensive and he paid $599 for it.

I wonder if the lack of 680 availability was because of them holding chips for the 670 release.

More like its much cheaper to make the GTX670. Also $400 GPU will sell much more then $500 GPU.

Then it's the fact that the average income for a person in Norway is about $50 000, if you have expensive medical costs you won't have to pay for them, and suddenly there isn't much to complain about if you're not an idiot.
Funny how those "hated" taxes are helping.

As much as I agree w/you philosophically Arni ... let's not make this political, and please don't throw around phrases like 'only idiot's (this or that)'.

OCN is not the place for any of this ... and I'm only posting this publicly because everyone sometimes needs reminding about this wink.gif

Me too. I'd like to wait a little bit further for the ASUS DirectCU version because it looks beastly.

I couldn't resist and bought an EVGA 670, but I think I'm going to sell it out and grab an ASUS the second it hits. The reference cooler, while certainly not bad, just isn't quite as good as ASUS'. I actually regret not grabbing the Galaxy one; that thing is slick looking.

Do we have any benches yet of the ASUS DCII vs the GB Windforce? Was curious as to the difference in perf between those 2 especially when OC to max.
