Safe 24/7 usage of 3930k

Hey guys,

Just started to fiddle with my overclock on the 3930k. Im currently set at 4.6ghz at 1.376 (sometimes jumps to 1.384 under 100% load) with temps no higher than 71 at the 100%. Also my idle temps r no higher than 44 with a H100.

I have read places that anything higher than 1.36v to the core can substantially degrade the chip, is this true?

What should my max voltages be?

1.4v is the max. Also what you've just described in your post is way more than safe for 24/7 operation.smile.gif

ah thanks, also on the note of a 7970 i have it clocked at 1125mhz for the gpu clock and 1575mhz for the memory. If i was to use 1.181v for the core and 1.6v for the memory core would that be ok? I have a fan setting so it doesnt get higher than 70.

1.4v is Intel max safe.

1.45v is what I would go up to for max safe 24/7, and 1.5v would be borderline 24/7 if you really wanted to pump the juice into it.

Intel spec sheets for Sandy Bridge E seem a little different from before. Although it says 1.40 as the Max it also says 1.52 for the SVID which would seem to suggest that much voltage is safe for peak offset voltage. Regardless I have mine at 4.8GHz with 1.44V under stress testing load. If you are that worried about it buy the over locking warranty that Intel is offering.
