True that the 670 is just about on par with a reference 680 / 7970 performance. If your in the market for a reference 680 / 7970 - price per performance king is to get the 670. For that edge in performance however you'll pay the higher premium price.

(This reminds me so much how the 6950 unlocked could perform as well as the 6970 range that it was the better choice for price performance). The 670 reviews are showing from tech websites pretty darn close yet just not quite as powerful than reference 680 / 7970 over all.

HOWEVER the 680 FTW is binned at a much higher performance level over the reference 670 that it will pull away much further than the reference 680 performance. The 680 FTW card is binned at GPU boost of 1175 Mhz. Nothing to sneeze at taken into consideration it has 8 power PWM's over the 670 4 power PWM's. Over clock head room will surely fall onto the FTW and the arguement should be is the price premium worth having and how much of a performance gap is the FTW over the reference 680 and those reviews have yet to be released to confirm anything.

Now the FTX 670 has a better argument.

I'm glad I caved and went AMD. Not even including the fact that AMD cards support up to 6 monitors, there's no rhyme or reason to pay $150 more for an extra 1GB of vram.

Also I'm really quite surprised at the 4GB 670.

Exactly and me being an nvidia fan they just keep getting stupid by the min, there like the next M$. $489 for a 4GB 670 without a waterblock & 4GB 680 with waterblock will prob cost around $700+. when you get a 3GB 7970 +komodo block for cheaper. I haven't opt for the 7970's in my sig yet but it's getting that way closer n closer everyday.

I want to see a GTX 670 FTW edition or at least a ultra classified (if that name isn't specifically for the 580).

It's over $100 more than the reference GTX680? Call me crazy but I don't think 2GB of VRAM is worth quite that much, at least on the consumer side
