Reccomendations?

Hey all, I have a little dilema and was wondering what you all thought would be the best route to go. I currently have an XFX 6950 1GB, unlocked shaders and slightly OC'd. My question is should I pick up another 6950 1GB for crossfire or sell my current GPU and get a GTX 670?

If I just bought another 6950 1GB I could pick it up for maybe 175$-200$ or if I got the 670 that would be around $400 and some change. Where do you think my money is better put to use?

Thanks for your time!

It really depends on what type of games you play and what resolution you play at? I'm a Vram whore who likes to enjoy mod packs so the 7970 3GB was the best fit for me (would have liked the 6GB version though biggrin.gif).

I play at 1920X1080 always maxing out what settings I can. Not playing anything current at the moment that would require much more then I have now, though I would like to have all the eye candy on BF3 turned up. I guess eventually I do plan on picking up Crysis2 and playing that with the DX11 texture pack. Doesn't really give you a great answer but you can kinda see what I'm getting at.

If you can get ~$175 for your 6950, I'd sell it and get 670. it will be a $50 difference. Although keep in mind that stocks of 670s are going to be low, despite multiple retailers showing them in stock. If you decide on this path, I'd buy the 670 first, then sell your 6950. Otherwise you may end up without a GPU for several weeks.

Well I think 2x6950's will probably match or beat a single 670 in terms of pure performance, but Vram will be your limiting factor with the 6950 especially with new titles. I play at 1080p 60hz and on my 7970 with 3gb of vram I see this kind of usage. BF3 1.5gb to upwards of 2.1gb, Skyrim heavily modded with ENB and LOTS of high res re-textures and that can use upwards of 2.8gb! Not much else puts much stress on Vram at the moment I don't have Crysis 2 though so can't comment on how much it uses. And just so you know the 7950 has 2gb and is also $399 and comes with 3 free games right now http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600100181%20600286767%20600286739&IsNodeId=1&name=Radeon%20HD%207950

I agree with you that VRAm is going to be my issue going forward with games. I must meditate on this.
