Other than the power consumption advantage a GTX 670 does not have any other. acoustics and temps are good on the custom coolers even when HD 7950 is overclocked. in favour of HD 7950 is compute perf, bandwidth and VRAM advantages.

And i don't really care about power consumption anyway. It's already extremely low with this gen cards compared to older gens. That, and daddy pays bills thumb.gif

I care more about heat/noise than i do about power use. I admit, there is a link between power use and heat, but with custom cooled 7950's there isn't much of a problem with heat/noise. And i will still be comfortable running my 7950 at 80C if neccecary, if oc is high enough and noise low enough

You don't need to worry about temps. the sapphire HD 7950 950 mhz edition comes with the same dual x cooler reviewed in the article thumb.gif

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/04/10/sapphire_hd_7970_oc_edition_video_card_review/10

"The Dual-X Cooling System delivered on several different levels. The Sapphire HD 7970 OC Edition is a relatively light video card. Most high end video cards with custom coolers have increased weight due to heavier heat sinks. This video card does not have that extra weight though but still exhausted heat effectively. The stock Sapphire HD 7970 OC Edition had an Idle operating temperature of 27c which increased to 56 degrees Celsius under full load with fans only increasing to 46%. On the Overclocked Sapphire HD 7970 we had fans set to 70% to keep heat off the card under the extreme overclock, and even with the high operating frequency and extraordinary performance that we received temperatures only increased to 68c under load. This is over 10 degrees Celsius cooler than both the reference Radeon HD 7970 and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680."

I would maybe get Nvidia these days as they also feature CUDA and other stuff smile.gif But both are great cards.

i loled, sorry but you can show me how standard that is??
Peaking over on (x) applications and to maintain those clocks on every application are 2 different things.. Looking at nvidia heaven topic would prove my point.. This cards need a lot on the core to get decent numbers on heaven compared to ati...

Sorry but erratic performance dont fit my bills...

I bought a 7950 and am not dissaponted one bit
i went for it as it was best bang for buck so to speak and it was exactly at my budget and the 7950 is cheaper than a 670by about £30-£40 and has 1gb extra vrm

.... This is stupid is that 7970 even Overclocked?? Those 670/680's will boost up into 1150+ mhz leaving the 7970 bone stock most likely.
