How Many Radiators?

Thread Starter
So im planning my first liquid cooled rig and have no clue on what radiator I should go with.
Basically to cool AMD FX-8150 and 2x SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970

would this rad do the job Black Ice GT Xtreme 420 Radiator with 3 140mm fans in a pull config? I have no plans to overclock anything. Its already overkill.

Here is the full build:
ASUS Crosshair V Formula
AMD FX-8150
2x SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970
Corsair SSD
G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
Rosewill LIGHTNING-1300 1300W PSU
In this Beauty NZXT Switch 810 - CA-SW810-B1 Black

Liquid Cooling Parts
Alphacool Repack Dual Bayres 5,25
Swiftech MCP655™ 12v Water Pump
2x EK Radeon HD 7970 VGA Liquid Cooling Block
EK Supreme HF Universal CPU Liquid Cooling Block
Enzotech SLI Bridge Fittings Set
1/2" ID - (5/8" OD) PVC Clear Tubing using compression fittings

General rule of thumb is you want a 120mm rad per block + an additional 120mm

I would go at least a 360 + 120, but with the Switch 810's space, you might as well get a 240 instead of the 120

i´d say the same.. .. im not sure if a 240 will have place to the 360.. if yes take it.
one more thing.. have you been considering taking intel instead of amd? i´m no fanboy, it´s just about the better performance..

edit: be aware that when watercooling generally, especially 2gpus + cpu you need to test at least 8 hours because the temperature will need several hours to reach its maximum! .. and always think about the summer > means think about where you will place the rig and that it will get up to 10°C hotter if your room is a hot spot tongue.gif

So being that the Black Ice GT Xtreme 420 Radiator is bigger than a 360 (i assume please correct if Im wrong), wouldn't that be enough?
Its its not, would tossing this in the bottom of the case do the trick? Black Ice GT Stealth 280 Radiator

and smex I'm just an AMD fan. The Scorpio platform just blows my mind lol.

Yeah a 60mm thick 420 will fit in the NZXT switch 810. Will that be enough?
i think it will but better look for an actual buld with two of those cards watercooled to be on the safe side.

Yeah a 420 should be great for your build. You should also have a decent amount of over clocking headroom without getting your loop too hot. If you ever decided you really wanted to OC the crap out of your gear (do it!!) you can just add a small 120 or 240. But it should be fine even then. Looks like a quality build good luck and be safe!
