Switching over

I've been an AMD guy ever since I started building. Probably because I'm a poor college student but I've never been able to afford the higher end merchandise that you all enjoy. Now I make a decent amount of money and can spend money on my computer stuff more often. So heres my situation..

I just recently bought a 680 SC and love it, however, I'm starting to think the rest of my system is holding it back. Right now I have a 1090T sitting in a Sabertooth 990FX. I understand that the CPU is not that great and was wondering how much of a difference in performance I would gain switching over to the 2500K. Also, would I be able to see a slight increase in performance out of my graphics card at all?
