OCN Ducky Shine Keyboard and Cherry MX Red's vs Brown's

Thread Starter
Hey guys! I recently purchased a CMStorm Quickfire rapid. While I liked the mechanical feel, I missed my numpad and wasn't the most fond of blues. I liked them for typing, but for gaming they became somewhat troublesome. Also the noise could sometimes get annoying but wasn't a big factor. So I returned the board and am using my crappy lycossa again. I noticed that Tank Guys has the Ducky Shine OCN edition, is this the only store stocking it? I've decided a ducky shine with white LED's would be nice.

I can't decide which switch to use next. I want to be certain because from what I read Tank Guy's doesn't accept returns, only replacements. I will use this board for 60% browsing/homework and 40% gaming. Am I right in saying browns and reds have the same actuation force? So I assume the difference is just sound? I'm looking for any input on this, and which keys I should go with. I notice almost everywhere is out of the white led + browns. Thanks!

everything you need to know right there.

I bought browns because I like a tactile feel, but don't care for the noise. Reds and Blacks are very linear and supposedly great for gaming, but there is not tactile feel to them at all.

I have a Shine brown and it is pretty good (similar use to you, probably 70% typing, 30% gaming). I wish they were a bit stiffer (nobody has clears) but I did not want blacks, I like the tactile of browns, but did not want the noise of blues.

I have had mine for about a week and I am still not totally sold on them, I actually like my Logitech quite well (have had it for about 4 years) but am giving the Ducky a full month before I decide what I will do with it.

The thread linked to above has lots of good info though.
