Is this possible to do?

Thread Starter
I'm going to be getting an nvidia 670 pretty soon here to replace my 570, which is watercooled. Since the water block for the 670 isn't out yet and since I don't feel like draining the water out of the system, could I leave the 570 in its slot and put the 670 in the other PCI-E slot. I'm not trying to run them in SLI or anything (I know that doesn't work), I just want to use the 670 but leave the 570 in there until I can get the 670 waterblock.

No, the 600 series uses a different driver set than the 500 series and you will have conflict of interest so to speak.

I don't know if this would work, but what about just unplugging power from the 570 altogether?
Then just plug in the 670, get rid of the old drivers, get the new drivers, and you should be good to go?

This doesn't work as the card also receives power through the PCI-E slot itself. The system will still pick it up and detect it isn't getting enough power, tossing warning messages at you.
