Mixing RAM sticks questions

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, In my work computer, i'm running into some issues that I'm thinking are ram related.

Mainly, when you minimize or restore a window, it does the "you just won a game of solitare" thing,

My computer has 4 sitcks of RAM ( DDR2 ) 2 - 256mb sticks at 200mhz, and 2 - 1gig sticks at 266mhz

Now, when you mix ram, it will operate at the slowest ram speed ( 200mhz in my case ) but would cutting out the two 256mb sticks be better or worse for overall performance ( 2gigs vs 2.5gigs of ram )

Any info is great, and yes my work computer is crap, and no I can't get a new one, and 4gigs of DDR2 ram is crazy expensive, so thats not an option either.

It really wouldn't make a perceivable difference at all, unless one of the modules was actually bad.

I would remove the 256Meg sticks and see if it improves

The other option would be to run MemTest86+ and see if it detects an issue with the memory.

I will sacrifice ( DDR2 ) 2 - 256mb sticks at 200 mhz... in order to get more mhz on the ram speed.biggrin.gif
