Alan Kertz, Core Gameplay Designer on Battlefield 3, answers some of the more common questions that all BF3 players ought to know. In the latest issue of Inside DICE, he goes into the gritty details as he talks about the suppressor and foregrip attachment combo, the effects that a scope or sight has on a weapon, the SKS’s bullet drop, and the differences between the P90 and MP7 PDWs. We also get a quick look at his background and early work with DICE.

Leave some of your own questions in the comments below and we’ll make sure to send them DICE’s way to see if they can be answered! For now, enjoy this quick Q&A with BF3 Core Gameplay Designer Alan Kertz as seen on the latest issue of Inside DICE:

Aim penalty with a foregrip. I seem to have no aim loss when I'm shooting off hand in the desert with a AKM 63 lol.

Ugh, we have the core gameplay designer available for an interview and they open up the questions to the comment section? I imagine a bunch of good questions will be buried under "AAAAAAARRR RAGEFACE I want BF2 back!" :/

Give me my M26 fix, suppression tweak (as promised by Demise99 1.5 mo ago), spectator mode, and a privacy option. PLEASE!

foregrip has an accuracy penality at long range. It's good for the meatgrinder maps.

Every time one of these geniuses comes out a talks, I see they know even less about firearms and weapons handling. A foregrip MAKES NO DIFFERENCE ON ACCURACY, in fact, it should definitely give only improvements. Anyone whose had any marksmanship experience knows that if you wanted to, you could easily move your hand off the foregrip to some other part to make more long range shots, hence keeping the accuracy. The only weapon a foregrip truly controls recoil on would be fully auto machine guns I believe. When you are firing using a foregrip, you really cant judge how much downward pressure to exert until 8 or 10 shots into an automatic burst. Anything before that, a foregrip is just another place to put your hand.
