asus p8p67 deluxe vs p8z77-v pro

Thread Starter
I don't need any of the extra features of the p8z77-v pro (except asus' fan xpert would be nice, but a good fan controller would work as well). The p8p67 deluxe has more power phases and looks better, and its cheaper (less than half the price), so is there any reason to get the p8z77-v pro? BTW I'm getting ivy bridge.

The P8P67 Pro isn't going to support Ivy Bridge out of the box. You will need a supported CPU installed (aka Sandy Bridge) and then flash the bios so it will work with Ivy Bridge. Z77 will work out of the box, supports Lucid Virtu MVP, quicksync, and you can use the CPU's onboard graphics if you ever need to.

P67 is EOL chipset. I would get a Z77 board and you can go with something less expensive than the P8Z77-V Pro. Why not get one of these?

so I couldn't use it without a sandy bridge cpu? Would there be any way to use it without one?

You could always ask the supplier what bios there P8P67boards are running and if the would upgrade it to support the ivy bridge CPU if was not running the correct bios. But it maybe be easier just to go with a Z77 board as you know this will work out of the box.
