Noisy pump.. need something more quiet

My computer was making a loot of noise and i wanted something as quiet as possible... So I recently bought a custom water cooling loop, following some recommendations i got on a forum. The main objective was to get a more silent PC. I ended up spending over $800 on this water cooling system and the result is that my PC is almost making more noise than it was before... I am very very disappointed.

99% of the noise comes from that ****ty Swiftech MCP655 pump. It almost makes me regret to have spent so much on a WC system.

The pump is combined to a dual 5.25" bay reservoir by XSPC. The fans on the radiator are very silent so no problem there. But this damn annoying pump makes so much noise. My whole computer is shaking because of the vibrations, even if i have put loads of rubber grommets...

This pump has 5 speeds and it is currently set on speed 1... I don't understand why it is so much noisy.

And yes, i've bleed my loop, there is not a single air bubble left. I've run my loop top off during 2 weeks just to be sure it wasn't the problem.

So my question is :
Could you recommend me a more silent pump ? I want one as quiet as possible, i don't care how much it cost. I don't need ultimate performence since my PC is already very cool (temperatures are under 50°C while gaming with the lowest speed on the pump and using 3x1000RPM fans)

the 655 normally is incredible quiet, hell my hard drive spinning up is louder then it at top speed.

could it possible be something to do with the res considering its mounted in it, I've never owned that specific res but if someone else can chime in on it.

edit: looks to be the res found another thread same pump and res making an irritating vibration http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=701003, because of that you could just grab a random tube res and a custom top put a small amount of foam between the pump and wherever you mount it and it should be quiet.

This pump is definatly louder than a HD.

I've got two 7200 HDD in my case, and i can tell for sure that the pump is 4 to 5 times louder than those HDD combined together...

The pump makes a lot of vibration. If i touch the front of my reservoir, i can feel a lot of vibration... Even when i though the side panel of my case, i feel the shaking... Sometimes i can even feel it on my desk ! (the PC case is standing on my desk)

But even if i take the reservoir in my hand (thus eliminating vibrations from the case) it still makes a lot of noise. It's a little better, but still very noisy...

If it's possible run the pump separately from the res and resting on foam/suspended from tubing to confirm the noise levels. If it still makes a lot of noise then it's probably faulty, possibly something out of balance. While not silent, at setting 5 it's one of the quietest decent pumps.

Already did that before installing the WC system inside my computer case.

It's currently at setting 1 out of 5

1 is the quietest and 5 the loudest, right ??

I suspect that performence-pcs.com sold me an used pump. It looked used when i got it...

Is there a quietest pump than this one ?

I'd agree with scrapping the bay res, and redoing the loop with the pump more isolated. When the pump isn't vibrating the case so badly, it'll be MUCH more quiet, and some cases it's just not really possible to get that kind of mount in a bay res.

well since it is a dual 5.25" bay reservoir, i don't really have any place to isolate the pump better... not sure how i could do it... but like i said even when i take it in my hand it still make more noise than an HDD

Or do you mean that i should replace my reservoir and put the pump at another place, and use a t-line for fill/drain ?

You should replace the reservoir, either get a bay res that doesn't mount the pump to it, like this, or one of the many other internal reservoirs. Put your original pump top back on, and mount the 655 in the bottom of your case, ideally on a thick foam base to absorb vibrations. Obviously you'll still need to feed the reservoir directly to the pump, a drain line can be added if you feel you need one.

Shake the pump a little to make sure all the air is out. I would take the pump out of the loop, and run it by its self. If it still makes noise, open it up and shows us the insides. Maybe you have a bad impeller or something got stuck. How do you have the pump mounted? If i remember, you're not supposed to mount it facing up or down. Someone else can say 100%.

I've had my Swiftech MCP655 for 5 years with no noise issues.
