Its b/c of the KDE environment everything begins with a small 'k'.

I'd try something else if the *buntu are not working. If you can use the DVD versions then try SuSE 10.1. I've heard some people complain about problems with the cds install way b/c it'll make you reboot between each one. The DVD install though always went smooth for me.

SuSE and Fedora are both good distro that are still easy to use.
