Cue Creepy Music and Robots walking around aimlessly...

The song Sanja Illic & Balkanika by Kora comes to mind...

Point taken though.

I was about to say lol. Experimenting on homeless generally doesn't go over well.

Has been in the local news a lot. Whole thing seems like a boondoggle. The project went from $200 mil to an estimated $1 billion in a few months. I have trouble seeing a test bed of this scale being financially viable. I'm expecting to see a CNBC Filthy Rich docu on it in the next few years.

Anyway from what I read wouldn't this only apply to a more modern infrastructure? Would the experiments and results be compatible with say an older infrastructure that has had modern updates such as Rome, London, or Paris? Still would be a sight to see though, I wonder if we will see some new zombie movies using this as a back round.

The logic of putting this in mexico is beyond me. Mexico has no control over its own facilities, let alone ours. Why put this business in their hands/ Next thing we know the cartels use the houses and ruin the experiments anyways. Anything like that, that could be easily done here in the USA without causing issues, should be done.

We HAVE locations of real ghost towns they could just fix up or tear down first so it is not a matter of money or placement. I think it is insane.

Just chiming in again to put a scale to this proposed project. The last area I saw that it would encompass is 15 square miles down from 18. This includes not necessarily high rises, but multi floor buildings. Complete residential sectors along with commercial and industrial. All of this includes top of current technological capability for the infrastructure of a city of roughly 45k. Sewage, electrical grid, and the means to automate all of it. Think flush toilets and all the wiring in your home or work place with paved roads and stop lights.

I'm sure the whole thing is a civil engineers wet dream. I don't see it being financially viable as a private project. It's being pursued by a DC based consulting/lobbying group. A lot of subsidized loans and massive tax breaks. Your tax dollars at work in the auspices of green technology. I'm not against green technology, but this project was pursued with that buzz word in the forefront. Hopefully it doesn't end the scam it seems to be.

The idea is to implement the cutting latest technology available in everything in this city.

From cutting edge building structures and roads, to cutting edge telecommunications.

In other words the perfect city, and it will undoubtley look very different as we see curent cities.
