[Kotaku] Steam vouchers soon to be available at gamestop

Quote:
The vouchers will apparently go on sale on May 15, and are reportedly a "kind of a sensitive issue" between GameStop and Valve owing to the fact it's an awkward way for either party to be making money.

Short article, this is my first Rumor/News post btw. Tried my best to make sure it wasn't a re-post.

Oh, I thought they were selling codes for steam games instead of the actually dvd...

They're just selling little money vouchers for steam like they do for xbox live and PSN.

Meh, it gives people who are paranoid about credit cards another option.

lol im paranoid with my CC and i've given steam a couple hundreds already, wouldn't mind a couple more. Shouldn't gamestop still be competitive by selling console games? seems like they're just both expanding their empire.

The only thing I dont like about this is that gamestop is making money from Valve lol. I hate gamestop/EB games and try to buy games direct from publishers or on steam if not.

But we were all kids once without credit cards remember? If you wanted a credit card only purchase you had to ask your parents. Now it might make people play PC more and eventually consoles will die the miserable death they deserve. Oh how it fills me with joy.

But isn't their prepaid credit cards that kids can just go to practically any Rite aid, walgreen, walmart, etc and load the card with some money and use it on steam? You don't need to be 18+ to use it or buy it too.

Except that you don't usually buy stuff at walmart online.

Online porn on the other hand...

I don't have a credit card so...yay? I don't know where the pre-paid ones are anyways.

Does it act like those cards in Hong Kong? You can use it for bus/train/taxi/buying small things from 7/11?

Kinda strange considering they bought Impulse from Stardock. Must not be a big success.
