What to do to the cooling?

Thread Starter
I've two gt580 sc on sli, both of them running with factory settings and with factory fans. They're right next to each other, there's no empty slot between since my motherboard hadn't any, and they're having temperatures of 63/42 in idle and ~95/~80 when stress or gaming. Comparing to other peoples temperatures, mine seem quite high, especially the 63 idle. I've Fractal Design Define R3 case with two fans in front for the intake, and fans that outtake air are at the top, at the back, on the side next to graphic cards and at the bottom (since the 580 factory fans blow hot air downwards), one fan in each of them.

So is there anything to be done to the air circulation or do I just have to accept having temps this high? Should I change eg. the bottom fan to intake, or is only way to upgrade to water cooling. If you want I can throw a picture so you can better see the setup. Thanks.

Just aim a fan in the middle of the cards from the end of the cards(so the fan is aiming towards the back of the case, but blows air between the cards) it'll force more fresh air in there. I did that to my SLI 460's awhile back and it lowered temps by nearly 20C while folding.

You might try having your side case fan blow fresh air into the case on the cards also. It should do more than trying to pull the hot air off of them.
