[Build Log] Old Gregg (Water cooled Corsair 400R - Green, white and UV themed) - Page 3

no one ever comments on my thread *cries* frown.gif

hahahha
OK so yesterday my package did arrive. I spent all afternoon/evening working, here is what happened in photo format:

Unboxing: XSPX RX240 radiator, 2x 120.2 neoprene gaskets, 4x EK compression fittings, 2x EK 45 degree fittings, and a EK 90 degree fitting. Oh and an XSPC fillport.. which was supposed to be in black chrome mad.gif

Found a piece of aluminium for my rad stand, and what happens when you use Primochill Liquid Utopia... It leaves white gunk over everthing in your loop... wont come off with hot water... so annoyed.

Edit: Ok i did some reading and maybe its due to the plasticiser/residue/something from manufacturing that is left on the inside of the primochill tubing, could also be due to using way to much of the liquid utopia biocide (i swear i only used a few drops but..)

Mounting the GT AP-15s onto the RX240 with a gasket, and mounting in the case. This was a VERY close fit.. especially with the added mm from the gasket.

Making the rad stand, lots of cutting and a bit of dremmel work. To be screwed into the bottom of the case.

My new drain port

With side panel on and without smile.gif

Great looking build beanscene, all very tidy looking, and I love what you did with the side panel. Good job biggrin.gif
post #25 of 60
Dude that looks amazing!! That's such a great idea to put a rad stand against the side panel, but must make for quite the hassel when trying to route cables, but i'm sure you will have all of that figured out beforehand. I'm still watching!! thumb.gif

if you turn the one on the side you could probably squeeze another 240 on the side, though you'd have to mod the side panel

Yeah everything was how I wanted it before but changing or rerouteing anything will be so much hassle! I've had to accept that if i ever need to swap any components I'm going to have to completely drain the loop and remove that radiator. I'm glad all my fan cables now go to the front controller and not to the motherboard headers because it would be hell to get at them otherwise.

Did you see the post I made last page where I gave the measurements of my motherboard? Should help you in seeing if an RX240 will fit for you. (Although I would recommend just going with an thin radiator to be safe... I haven't noticed a decrease in load temps at all, but I can run my fans slower (and quieter) and get the same air flow through the rad which is important to me)

Ah a very interesting idea, i dont think i would ever attempt it (if I ever need more rad i'm buying a new case!) but i would love to see if someone else can make it work thumb.gif

Cant do any-more work on it right now as I have uni work to worry about and am waiting on a bunch of 3mm/5mm/white/green/UV LED's from here, two pairs or quick disconnects from here and still havent ordered fans. Thinking of getting some white and black 1/8 sleeving from pcccasegear.com with my fans as well. Will help to tidy up all my loose cables (fans, pump, LEDs, cathodes, etc)

Really excited about these:

A bit ugly.. but much cheaper and much lighter than the Koolance QDC's. These will allow me to remove the rad from the loop without having to worry about draining everything, and run with just the old 2x rad configuration.

To be honest i have no idea whether they will improve airflow or not but i just thought they would make a good seal between the fan enclosures and the radiators. They were only 2-3 bucks each or something so i grabbed a couple biggrin.gif I know it probably doesn't look as clean with them as without but i'm not too bothered by the look

Do i have anything worth taking any more pictures of right now? :O, I will take requests if you're interested in anything in particular. Definitely going to take shots of all the stuff i have ordered when it arrives. Today I ordered 4 more Gentle Typhoon AP-15 fans (so expensive in Australia frown.gif ... wish i could have settled for the Swiftech Helix's but after reading through this thread i decided to just put the extra dollars in for the GT's).

Not getting the bitspower sleeving from pccasegear.com now, but thinking of ordering MDPC-X sleeving when their international online store opens at 14:00 German time.

Thinking just white and black so i can sleeve my fans/pump/lights. The bright green looks so good but i really don't think i want to put in the time and effort to sleeve my 6/8 pin and 24 pin cables when i'm happy with the bitfenix extensions D: Definitely don't want two very different shades of green in there together... opinions?
