Best story-driven PC Games? - Page 9

One thing's for sure. Diablo 3 doesn't belong on this list.
Whatever story-drive it had was immediately destroyed when friends who are twice my level popped into my game and started killing everything and click-spamming past the story dialogue.

If you haven't picked up this game yet, either go straight to options and close off the game or be mindful of who you play with and make sure they respect the way you want to play the game. I just didn't have the heart to tell my friends to Get the F out.

It appears the game was meant to be a grind-fest. Which is fine, but it's not what I expected.

Will either Torchlight 2 or DoTA 2 have a good story?I wanted to get Diablo III until I found out it's a grind fest w/ some lore but no real story. I've never really gotten into the hack-and-slash style RPGs but I'm trying now b/c there hasn't been a good JRPG since....I also just bought The Witcher 1 and Metro 2033 ($5 steam sale) b/c I head they had pretty solid stories. Witcher is 15gb d/l so I won't be playing it until tomorrow mad.gif

You mean it's just like the previous two Diablo games, StarCraft and WarCraft 1,2 & 3??? Oh Darn, and here I thought Blizzard might have finally changed their formula after 15 years.

Just wanted to be the fifteenth to recommend Planescape: Torment. Great story, great atmosphere, great gameplay. Of course, the graphics are going to be a little flat (the game is over a decade old) but everything else about it is so over the top that you forget the graphics after a while. It's available at gog.com as well, just 10 bucks.

pretty much all the interplay/troika games had great stories. even lionheart had an interesting story, despite the game being kinda boring

Lets just say I'm new to the pc spectrum of games and leave it at that. Never played a Blizzard game b4, doesn't look I'm about to start now.

Honestly in PC gaming, story driven games are limited. I tend to find best stories with fan made RPG games (RPG Maker).

Then again, I'm a sucker for JRPG game.

The game play may stink but some of the class story lines in Star Wars The Old Republic are pretty good, and if you play the dark side can make you laugh quite often at the smart a$$ answers your character gives.

Not the experience I had. The first playthroughs took quite a bit longer than Diablo 3 and the story seemed much more interesting. I blazed through the entire game in normal mode by my third day. To put things into perspective, within hours of the release there was word that someone had already beaten the game. It was considered news. A few days later, everyone realized this is no amazing feat. The game really is that short.

Whatever formula they had before, it's certainly much more than before. The multiplayer structure makes sure of that.

And I don't know how you would consider Starcraft or Warcraft, which are RTS games, grindfests. Those aren't even in a similar genre as WoW or Diablo.
