Reference GTX 670 water blocks are going to be hillarious

So everyone knows that the current reference version of the nVidia GTX 670 is only 9.5" 6.75" long and is just really short, so what do you guys think VGA water cooling companies like EK and swiftek will start pushing out for this card? There a few unique things going on here; the card is smaller than the gtx 680 (so the same block can't be used); the performance of this card is only slightly less than that of a GTX 680 and $100 less so there's going to be a massive market for these (also since you can actually buy them); and in SLI they can basically match the power of a gtx 690.
I can't wait to see what these guys push out for water cooling this little monster.

The actual card is only about ~6.75" long. I am looking forward to see what the full cover blocks look like. They will come out. EK, for one, is already officially on it. I instantly fell in love with the card, and will be using it in a µATX build.

I wonder if we will see designs with the ports on the end of the card furthest from the I/O plate, rather than on the side.

That would be interesting, not sure how practical though. For an SFF build it might even be preferable - reduce the width of the card whilst staying well within the length of a "normal" card.

Weight is definitely going to be a big issue, but it would seem like a shorter PCB would be able to resist droop more. The odd thing is evga is shipping full length backplates which could indicate that waterblocks would simply come with an elaborate backplate to maintain common design elements of existing blocks.

I'm really excited to see if other cards get blocks too, if the DCII gets one then I'll pick up one of the Top's and wait for the block, not sure how a card that small would look with a block if it's under 7" long (except on a mITX rig, it would look awesome on a mITX board. Being the same length and all)

i see some possibilities with the small, reference pcb.
trying to decide if i should go itx, get a stock 670 with the short pcb + replace stock fan with my h60 and mounting bracket that chmodlabs will -eventually- have tongue.gif
or just get an asus dc2 670. even though its longer, i was impressed with how quiet that one was. i think it was running at 24-ish dba or something.

I chose the reference card strictly due to the smaller pcb. It should improve airflow over the P67 chip and the ram.
What is interesting is that with ram mounted on both sides of the pcb a full block will have to have a back, or not everything will get cooled.

I am tempted to go with a universal block and ram sinks, but then need to squeeze air into the gap since I have a sound card mounted two slots down from the gpu slot.

It's interesting that no one has a wb out yet. I bought my GTX 480 the day they came out and a DangerDen wb the next.

I just pulled the trigger on a eVGA GTX 670 SC, along with a Lian Li PC-Q18B Mini ITX, and a ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe Mini-ITX, and some GSkill 2400MHz 8GB ram. Can't wait to get the case so I can see how much room I have for radiators space. I hope I have room to water cool a 3770K and the GTX 670, I was thinking of using 2 x Black Ice GTX M184 - Dual 92mm fans which I already have some 92mm Gentle Typhoons before they went scarce. Keep an eye out this should be fun build.. biggrin.gif

Yes my friend, the bracket and IHS are currently in the works. Once school is done development will speed up exponentially.
