30 GB Gaming SSD?

Thread Starter
Ok, so purchased a system a little over a year ago from Cyberpower.

Main memory was 604gb HDD. Well, they had a promo and game me a 30 GB Kingston 2.5 inch SATA Gaming MLC Solid State Disk.

Taken from Cyberpower:
Quote:
* Intel Smart Response Technology combines SSD and Standard HDDs into a single volume for fast performance while maintaining large storage capacities. Intel Smart Response Technology utilizes a portion of your SSD drive for caching frequently used applications to improve your overall system performance and responsiveness. A minimum of 20GB of SSD storage space will be used and dedicated to caching but allocated cache size is adjustable. By utilizing the Intel Smart Response Technology, your system response will outperform HDD-only systems by up to 60%!
* Must Purchase with Operating System!

Now, a few days ago I upgraded my main memery to a Corsair Force Series 3 180GB SATA III SSD and set my 640 HDD as backup and completely removed the 30gb SSD.

My question is, I was wondering what I could do to incorporate that 30gb SSD in my system. Thought about adding it for a gaming memory cash (as it was originally intended) but talking with a friend about it, he said it would slow down my system and to just sell the thing.

So is there a way to have this still work in my system and what would be the feasible option if so?

My thoughts were, with the HDD my Windows 7 score was a 5.9. With the SSD, it jumped to a 7.6. All my other scores are 7.9 so I was hoping to add the 30gb SSD in some way to improve 5.9. *Note I may be wrong in my thinking. This is my first system build so I'm somewhat ignorant on how a lot of this works and am learning from research and trial and error.

[1st.] I hope you are using your new Corsair Force 3 SSD as your boot/Windows 7 drive. If not, make it happen as it will be much better than using a standard HDD. IMO
[2nd.] You have a P67 Intel Motherboard, which does not natively support Intel Rapid Storage Cache. There may be software solutions though. Which would eliminate possibility of using your existing 30G SSD as a HDD cache.
[3rd.] Yes, you can continue to use the 30G SSD as a extra storage device for games, music etc. Just initialize it pretty much like you would do for a extra HDD in your system.

Yeah. The new SSD is my boot.

So I can just add the 30gb SSD as another backup. While it wont preform as well as the 180 at running games, I can still put smaller applications on there instead of on the main SSD.
