Looking to do a mild OC on a FX series CPU and the A50 is on sale for like $21 @ NCIX right now. Will it do?
Yep, an A50 should be fine. $21 is a good price.

When I get my BD I'm going to try for 4.6ish as a 24/7 OC.

I suggest that people educate themselves on the technical Pros and Cons of each design and then Buy What Makes You Happy.

Prebuilt water cooling setups are useless anyways, I have no case I just put my motherboard ontop of its box tongue.gif

The fans are still meh... I use an A70 with only 1 push fan since the 2nd fan was starting to wear down and get loud. CPU at 4.3 at 1.25 24/7 and it stays pretty cool. I can't imagine the A50 would do you much worse.

Edit: Just ran CPU at full load for 4 minutes and temperatures hovered around 55C, up for 32C idle on a fairly warm day in Los Angeles.

Since when is 4.6GHz a "mild" OC for FX? I think the 'mild' range is more like 4.1 - 4.4

Turbo is 3.9Ghz, so overclocking to 4.0Ghz would be small, overclocking 4.5Ghz would be mild and then 5Ghz being high.

I can get a Scythe Ninja 3 for $41, is it worth it?
