^I agree with Grizzle. That guy was hit despite being behind cover which implies lag (or he was shot through the open window next to him.

This video is all anyone needs:

I think supression is too high now but it was pretty much useless prepatch, should be somewhere in the middle.

Rofl rigggghhhht because being able to turn around when you get 3 bullets pumped into your spine is AWESOME! Just my take on it... If you rely on a hit indicator rather than the sound of footsteps/gunshots/etc. behind you, you deserve the death tongue.gif

When suppression was first announced before BF3's release, I was under the impression that it was a special "ability" exclusive to the Support class. Maybe making it that way would settle some of the community?
Quote:
The Support class was super important in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 because it could heal, but they're given a new role in Battlefield 3:suppression. Shooting in an enemy's general direction is important in real combat, giving your own team a chance to move and gain position while the enemies are frightened into running for cover.

If you can't kill someone when you got the jump on them and have them from behind, you deserve the death. Don't rely on overbearing gameplay mechanics to make up for your lack of aim and planning. rolleyes.gif

98% of the time when you (at least I) sneak up on someone and cannot get the kill on them, it is thanks to the horrific hit detection/netcode, so no, we just disagree.

The "don't rely on overbearing gameplay mechanics" goes both ways... don't BLAME gameplay mechanics that make the gameplay somewhat more realistic. I'm pretty sure if you had a storm of bullets flying over your head in real life you would not turn around to shoot back; you'd dive-bomb straight down at the floor behind whatever you can find near you, until you have a couple of precious quiet seconds while your enemy is reloading to then look out and return fire.

With suppression, if you have a squad of 4 approaching your flag or area, and you are alone, you can force them to take cover (if they are smart players, they will) and pin them there while someone from your squad or team drops a good flank on them. Unfortunately, yes, plenty of players will abuse the benefit suppression and sit their ass on a bipod with an extended magazine all round just spamming fire down narrow hallways, tunnels, and whatnot. That applies to ANY gameplay feature. Look at the M26 Dart, grenade launchers, mortars, and RPGs. People complain all the time about others being annoying as hell with them and just spamming them while sitting next to an ammo crate. I don't complain about it, I learn to cope and deal with it by learning how to drop in on them from another approach. I'd be more than willing to accept a middle-ground between suppression pre-patch and post-patch, but pre-patch it was pretty useless.

Even if people do just sit in a hallway with a bi-pod and an LMG, all it takes is a grenade/M320/mortar.

DICE may be willing to tweak the suppression, but I dont think they will remove the accuracy penalty altogether.

Already planning to be home this weekend, plus its a 3day so I can get skyrim in as well. Not only that but I stay a week ahead in my classes as well so I will be set. Have not had a full blown gaming weekend in ages. I will certainly enjoy sitting and doing absolutely nothing for 72 hours.

It adds an element of strategy, which has been pointed out time and time again. If you know you're getting shot at and you're being suppressed and you sit there and try to fire back, that's not a very smart move. You get to cover and rethink your strategy then use team-play and/or skill to best your opponent. It's not a very hard concept to grasp. You people can bring up how it rewards bad players all you want, but in the end, if you're sitting there trying to fire on someone who just got the jump on you in a game that's not about running and gunning, then you're the bad player.

For example, if my team is attacking in a game of rush on, say, Metro (just using Metro because the first area has a good area for this). Going after A, the defense typically sits behind the barriers on either side of the bridge and pick off anyone who runs up and tries to arm A. Now, if I take my support class with an LMG I can position myself accordingly and shoot in the general area of where the enemy is and keep them suppressed while my team arms the objective. That's neither camping or rewarding me for having bad aim, this is simply how the game was meant to be played (you know.. with team-work *gasp*).

I like how this has turned into an argument about suppression when it's not even mentioned in the article. xD
