The suppression effecting accuracy is stupid imo. I was under the impression (and think it SHOULD be) that suppression simply blurred the persons screen for a few seconds making it harder for them to see what's going on. I think it's pretty retarded that suppression would actually effect the accuracy of a weapon

Suppression needs to be toned down, the random deviation does not beget skill or strategy in all situations. A great idea it is, but when it's not balanced correctly and/or sequestered to one class, it doesn't lend to consistent game play.

Anti-Suppression strategies do not work for all maps, all game types, explosive/non-explosive servers. I have had more issues with it post patch than before and I'm going to play something else for the majority of my free time till it's toned down. Hopefully the de-tune happens with the CQ map/dlc, because that's what I want to purchase/play.

Sick and tired of the first to shoot getting the kill, rather than the first to hit.

I like how this has turned into an argument about suppression when it's not even mentioned in the article. xD

I like how everyone's assuming I ignore team-work (squad work really), because I don't like how the suppression mechanic is implemented.

It's also retarded for a mechanic called suppression which by definition is there to hamper the offensive effectiveness of the suppressed, to not cause any kind of suppression at all.

The fact that people are now feeling vulnerable and unable to function 100% offensively while suppressed (and therefore less likely to be gung-ho about attacking) means that it's basically doing exactly what it should.

You can argue that it may be too much or too little, but the core workings of the mechanic are serving their purpose at the end of the day.

I wasn't assuming you ignore team-work and I'm sorry if it came out that way. That was more a hit at people who claim BF3 has veered away from team-work. tongue.gif There's plenty of other ways to be a team player and I know that. Was simply pointing out that it strongly enforces team-work for both receiving and giving ends of suppression.

In my opinion, I think it's perfect where it's at. Maybe just a little bit less of a hit on accuracy and spread just to please some people, but really, the less of an effect there is, the less people will worry about it. Suppression is something that should be worried about and considered in a fire-fight. Plus, for me, it's just one of those things that adds to the experience and leads to Battlefield moments. biggrin.gif

Suppression, as it is now, is a great mechanic for the large maps, not so much for the close quarters though. Maybe if they tuned per map.

I'm would be scared to find out what they had it set at during the patch QA testing. I remember reading that it was set much much higher before the patch released.

If it didn't have such a strong effect @ <5-10m, I would agree comepletely with you :d.

It needs further refinement, and then I'd be happy with it biggrin.gif.

S'all good mate thumb.gif

When suppression was first announced before BF3's release, I was under the impression that it was a special "ability" exclusive to the Support class. Maybe making it that way would settle some of the community?
http://pc.ign.com/articles/117/1172554p1.html

what about hearing random sounds when theres no one behind you?

so i am suposed to rely on something that isnt reliable?

i rely on my minimap and hit direction markers...

both helped save my life countles amount of times pre-patch

The "don't rely on overbearing gameplay mechanics" goes both ways... don't BLAME gameplay mechanics that make the gameplay somewhat more realistic. I'm pretty sure if you had a storm of bullets flying over your head in real life you would not turn around to shoot back; you'd dive-bomb straight down at the floor behind whatever you can find near you, until you have a couple of precious quiet seconds while your enemy is reloading to then look out and return fire.
With suppression, if you have a squad of 4 approaching your flag or area, and you are alone, you can force them to take cover (if they are smart players, they will) and pin them there while someone from your squad or team drops a good flank on them. Unfortunately, yes, plenty of players will abuse the benefit suppression and sit their ass on a bipod with an extended magazine all round just spamming fire down narrow hallways, tunnels, and whatnot. That applies to ANY gameplay feature. Look at the M26 Dart, grenade launchers, mortars, and RPGs. People complain all the time about others being annoying as hell with them and just spamming them while sitting next to an ammo crate. I don't complain about it, I learn to cope and deal with it by learning how to drop in on them from another approach. I'd be more than willing to accept a middle-ground between suppression pre-patch and post-patch, but pre-patch it was pretty useless.

sorry but i never had problems killing people that i had the drop on

so it must be your lack of aimming skills

more realistic mechanics?

how is being suppresed increase recoil? or even spread?

btw the mortars wasnt op pre-patch.. now its useless.. all because of people complaining like you... if someone mortarded our team i would go on counter mortaring and keep them occupied with me and leave my team breathing room to push... wink.gif that's real teamwork... playing with a mav and calling out position of ennemies to your team on teamspeak is real teamwork.. and i did that ... being the dedicated soflam recon and being on teamspeak with your friends to coordinate a javelin team then it was teamplay again.. but lonewolfing an lmg and shooting everywhere but not hitting anyone is plain dumb

the only way i could see suppresion done right is if it would blur your vision into a very small tunel vision in black and white and with tons of motion blur that cannot be turned off in the bf3 settings ...

this way it would make run & gun harder.. but would still take skill to master.. thus putting skill over superman tactics like some would like to call them while pleasing both sides

scrub mechanic is for scrubs

1. All of nope, ~20% average accuracy rating.
2. More realistic in the sense that you can't just run into a hailstorm of bullets and expect to wipe out an entire squad on your own.
3. Never complained to begin with, I was fine with how the mortars were before. I simply mortared right back or flanked them if they weren't in their main spawn (that part was a bit annoying when they sat out of bounds).
