1) I appologize for my lack of knowledge in regards to DLNA servers such as Subsonic. I have only ever setup playon. Playon works, Subsonic did not. I added my media folders to the library in the web interface, and it kept saying that there was no media present. Aka, it didn't work. I couldn't find logs, as it was uninstalled quite quickly since there was no way to get my media to read on it.

To be honest, I'm all in favour of you keeping Playon. This is why I've been trying to find solutions that can run in parallel or -better yet- utilise it.Originally Posted by pioneerisloud

I bumped it for about a week...there were no responses, so I went and bought playon....and it worked. It just flat out worked. My TV reads it natively, my HTPC's read it because my HTPC's use XBMC. This "project' I have going right now isn't a massive priority. Our 2 year old can deal with jittery Spongebob for all I care about, he's 2. When we can afford a better machine in its place, it'll be ran like every other HTPC in the house more than likely (reading the file shares, DLNA use for Netflix, Hulu, etc....the online stuff).
Also, nobody has ONCE told me how to setup XBMC to do what I'm wanting (easy way to play everything in a folder with the click of a button). I was told to use the mouse, and setup a queue. I did that, and it requires me to do it manually.....one movie file (episode) at a time. So to me personally, its not as easy as a click of a button...which is why I was saying XBMC is a no go.

How about "Thanks for the suggestions"?However the reason you have nothing working yet is because you're giving up without even trying properly.

Again, you've given up without even trying properly. (eg uninstalling subsonic at the 1st hurdle, not bothered to read up on XBMC's library functions because you assume that right clicking was the only way to add to a queue (and that was after it was pointed out to you that there is a library function when you originally dismissed XBMC).Quote:
I raised it because forum mods should understand forum etiquette better when requesting help.Anyhow, if you're happy with RDP then so be it. The kid is 2, you only want a quick and crude fix and I've now derailed this thread (sorry for that).
However if you do fancy having a tinker again, then have a read on XBMC's libraries.Edited by Plan9 - 5/16/12 at 2:20am

I was almost positive what I was trying to do had been done before easier than all of this.
