Ok so I just tested with the cover on and the cover off, and the temps were about the same for both. I cranked the fans up pretty high, but it still breached the 70's c.

Here are some pictures to support the fact that air shouldn't be a problem. I popped the fan filter off and this is how close it sits to outside air. nothing but the filter between the fans and the outside, so I would think it would have plenty of fresh air?

it's probably getting plenty of air, but where is the air going? Those kind of coolers expel less air out the back than shroud coolers, leaving a bit of hot air hanging around. If your case is not allowing a consistent air flow around the cards, that will affect the temps. While it would kill the aesthetics of your case, which does look nice, perhaps you might consider installing a fan/grill on the roof above the card, exhausting air. You need to get that hot air out as much as fresh air your feeding in. If not, do you have access to a shroud model, from a friend etc, to try putting in there? i know with my sli setup, once i went to shroud models, my temp issues disappeared. I had ASUS cards with the DCu2 coolers and went with Evga FTW models.

good point. I actually gave it though last night and I'm thinking of getting a hold of a blower style cooler for a 680 and seeing if it helps. I was also toying around with putting a hole in the top of the case for an exhaust as well. I will see what happens. I might have access to a big hole drill bit.

I appreciate your advice thumb.gif

with your temp issue mate have you tried testing the back of the card for excess heat cause you seem to be focusing on the fan side perhaps the back of the card is causing the heat issue try sitting a 80mm fan at the back of the card to check for a temp drop if the temp drops thats your prob and not the fan side

nice lil 80 mm fan above the card venting out would get that air moving the right way ....

even two front and rear or one either side

yea I'm very likely going to drill a hole in the top for a 120 mm fan. I have the space for it and it should really help get some heat out.

Happy to give it mate. "Avast hot air, be gone with ye!"

good news fellows. I finally got the ballz to void my warranty and re-apply the thermal paste. there must have been something wrong the factory application this whole time cause it dropped the temps waaaayyy down.

I left the aggressive fan profile that I had before, and initial testing (same thing I was doing before, just cranking borderlands for about 10 minutes) it never went above 54c! before the fan was almost at %100 percent and the card was running 75 - 80c. On top of that its over 80F in my house right now.

now I can finally see why the twin frozer is so acclaimed tongue.gif
