... get those backplates. I'm noticing quite a bit of heat flying off of the top of these 4GB'ers I have and I will be ordering these as soon as I have some extra scratch to spend on this thing. I do not have a reference PCB though, so I don't know if that matters as far as the design that Asus chose to go with on these Direct CU II's compared to those EVGA 4GB models.

Most vendor specific (stock) backplates are NOT compatible with the EK GPU blocks due to the alignment of the screws, and the fact that the block needs to use some of the same holes as the stock backplate. I don't know how the EK backplate differs yet from the stock plates though since I haven't purchased them for my cards yet. I can tell you for sure that the Direct CUII models do not work... such a bummer...
