anything i should be careful for?

Don't put too much TIM on, a little bit will do, too much will cause higher temps.  I like to use Gelid GC-Extreme, but any modern non-conductive TIM should be fine, they are all pretty much within 1-2C of each other.

I was offered a solid deal on 2x MSI 670 Power Edition cards ($420 CAD for both). I have one concern- I had two 7870XT Tahiti cards in Crossfire with NO space b/w the cards (not even a single pci slot b/w them) and had to sell both because I could maintain respectable temps. Would I be able to SLI both of these cards with respectable temps or am I doomed to face the same problem?

I know reference design blower cards would solve this issue but I find them aesthetically unappealing tbh.

Thoughts?

That's a solid deal for sure.thumb.gif

But TBH any time two cards are sandwiched together like that, you'll just be starving the top one. Some coolers might deal with it better than others, but it's never really an ideal setup. :\

You could always do what I did:

Top card used to hit the late 80's to early 90's whilst gaming at 75% fan speed. Now they both run at a max of 70 at 50% fan speed and it only cost me £14.97 for the riser and £2.74 for the longer SLI cable.

I have a prolimateck FMK-01 as a last resort. But I think i'll use a frame limiter (to 59 fps) and slightly undervolt the cards. That should keep the top card relatively cool.

Just got both of my MSI GTX 670 Power Edition OC cards smile.gif. Work great. I was worried temps for the top card would be brutal and they were- topped at 95 celcius on Furmark. The bottom card topped at 65 celcius. Adding a fan on top of both cards didn't help.

Set MSI Afterburner's frame limiter to 59 and pulled up BF4. The top card doesn't pass 75 celcius and the bottom doesn't pass 57 celcius.

1150/7000 using 100% power limit. Completely satisfied with both cards.

Edit- decided to run @ stock.
