Intel SSD 520 series problem - Page 2

(PS) i have used the SSD in my desktop via eSATA on my HP notebook and the numbers don't go up just the power cycle count go's up so the SSD work just fine only on my HP notebook but not on my desktop and i cant view the HP notebook bios its locked or whatever hp does so you cant change anything on the HP bios.

also i can't seem to join the Intel forums or the Intel communities to ask for help on there the Intel website wont let me register i tried for 3 days now frown.gif

and all notebooks and desktop are in ACHI mode i did the command check thing and they are at 0 not 1 so trim is working and ACHI is enabled on all my systems

Hmm thanks for the info. Was something in my BIOS called SATA hot plug, i disabled all of them, and now that issues are gone, no more growing numbers, strange. And i think was the video card problem, i had a DirectCU II GTX570, and like you i shutdown the pc normal, and after a power up, i see the numbers on the SMART parameters keep increasing. Now i have another video card GTX680 from MSI Twin Frozr III, and now it's all ok.... strange. Could be that DirectCU II video card not closing properly when a shutdown occurs, and the SSD increased his unsafe shutdown count and unexpected power loss cuz of the video card not closing proper ?

oh wow ok glad you fixed it, Nice video card you got smile.gif
my video card is new gtx 460 so i think its the sata hot plug thing you say, that allows you to safely remove your ssd or hdd while the pc is running.

i don't have that feature in the bios frown.gif look here

direct link http://i50.tinypic.com/e00pll.jpg
in the picture that's what my ssd shows and so i can see why the unsafe shutdown count go's up because i don't safely remove them i just shutdown and expect the PC to do it ?

can you please tell me what bios version you are using so i can download it too i would like to cross mod my bios so it can have those features to disable the sata hot plug please

I am using 10.5 bios version on my mobo. Ok, now if my problem is solved, i still have value 16 of both unexpected power loss and unsafe shutdown count remaining. I guess i can't ease that SMART values ?

Thanks your motherboard is msi right ?

i guess the SMART numbers are all permanent like in a car the miles counter keeps going up, i'm sure there is some way to reset them but only Intel would know how.

i have done a secure erase on most of my ssd using the Intel tool box but it does not reset the smart numbers.

Ok, in some weeks i will recieve my new video card DirectCU II GTX680, and then i will test if the numbers keep increasing while i have that video card implementation in my PC. Because the numbers from the SMART stopped when i've sold my old DirectCU II GTX570. I hope the Asus company will ship that video card model in my country in some weeks. Because i had yesterday a GTX680 Twin Frozr III, and that card under games and full load had some coil whine, strong though. And i've send the card back and want to buy that DirectCU II implementation for GTX680, that one has 8 phases VRM modules, vs. 4 VRM phases on the MSI card.

Hey CalinTM i fixed it smile.gif im so glad i did some searching on this website i found my fix here http://www.overclock.net/t/974023/fix-ahci-sata-drives-showing-in-safely-remove-hardware

the numbers no longer go up i guess it was because i didn't safely remove the ssd on every shutdown but it wouldn't let me so doing the regedit fixed it smile.gif
