Do these monitor feel fast? (snappy)

I don't understand what you mean by "feel fast", I think the PC connected to them has more to do with that tongue.gif

Monitors with lots of ghosting and / or input lag feel more sluggish than monitors with less of the mentioned. For example, the dell 2048wfp you had is much worse than the u2412m with these. That would apply for the 2407WFP as well, though I don't know what kind of input lag it has. Compared to these two, your u2412ms should feel faster / snappier in a sense.

The u2412m has very low input lag and is fast for an IPS ghosting wise (though ghosting wise that makes it just average in the LCD world). It should feel decently fast, but it's still not close to a good 120hz display.

The 2407 and 2408 used the same panel but had minor tweaks to other parts of the monitor like inputs.

As far as ghosting and input lag, I don't notice any difference between them and the u2412m. The main difference would have to be even backlighting on the 2412 and the much better color reproduction. The image quality is also much crisper as if things pop off the screen compared to the older Dells.

Gaming wise, they are just the same if not better. They don't "feel any faster" than my older Dells.

Well the Dell seems like a great deal but would really like to know how it compare to a "faster" TN panel monitor.

I don't think what you are asking can be answered here. It is subjective. Just like how some people are fine gaming at 30fps and some cant stand it unless it's at 60. My low is around 45fps but I believe the same would apply to ghosting and input lag.

People have complained that the 2412M has bad ghosting yet in all games I have played, I haven't noticed any.

Only way to answer is to get one yourself and try it, if you order from Dell they have a 21 day return policy.

I bought this monitor (u2412m) yesterday. After a while I noticed flickering in my peripheral view (like old CRT with 60hz). Did some research and it appeared it doesn't flicker only when brightness is set to 100 which is too bright especially if you use it in a dark.

I found some youtube videos where owners show this effect:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnlnbQfDb8w

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru474L8N15w

I pointed my smartphone on u2412m and my old Samsung 226BW. Samsung monitor doesn't have any flickering under any conditions.

I'm definitely can't use my monitor with 100 brightness. Lowering brightness (I prefer 20-30) that annoying flickering appears and it tires my eyes. I'm going to return this monitor and exchange to something else.

Is this flickering a side effect of IPS or LED technology? If I buy a more expensive monitor DELL U2410 would it solve the flickering issue? Can you recommend any other decent alternatives to u2412m?

Thanks

Yes, catleaps are pretty cheap compared to other monitors available on the market. I only discovered about Yamakasi yesterday.

Catleaps shouldn't flicker since they support up to 120hz refresh rate?
