Sapphire Xtreme 5850 vs XFX 6870 - Perfomance?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, first of all, just let me tell you this forum is awesome, I've been reading it for about 7 months and has helped me many times.
Well, I'm trying to get a new GPU since my last (a gts 250 I had for the moment) died frown.gif

I've searching and reading threads in this forum, reading benchmarks, comparing how games run, but I'm not clear yet.
So right now, I can get a Sapphire Xtreme 5850 1gb gddr5 almost new, for about $20 bucks less than the XFX 6870 1gb gddr5 that I can also get, I also have the option of a ASUS 7770 1gb gddr5, but this one seems not comparable to the 5850 and 6870 when it comes to performance. rolleyes.gif

So, which one offers better perfomance? I have seen that both are similar, but I'm pretending to overclock as much as possible and play games like Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, TES: Skyrim, and similars. thumb.gif
I'm looking for perfomance in games, and like I said, I searched many benchmarks and read threads (which are like one year old) and couldn't found a clear idea of which GPU is better.

Please help me to choose!
Thanks to everybody! smile.gif

Wow thanks for the reply!
Yep I already used that page, but my doubt is if there is any difference between a normal 5850 and a "Xtreme" 5850 (Cypress core) in performance? Any more suggestions would be also appreciated, and thanks for yours!

Thanks smile.gif

i would go for the 6870 its going to be more efficient and put out less heat if you get the right one. The 6870 also has the better tessalation that the 6xxx series brought to the table. Good luck with whatever you end up with.thumb.gif

Mmm just what I thought, and right now I have as an option HIS and XFX.
Also, what about 7770 ASUS? I've seem that the performance in this card is not so well when you look at the price...

the 7770 is definately not worth the money unless your worried about the power draw which isnt much better than the 6870.

Don't go for the
7770, although the price is up with a 6870, it performs much worse

like others said, go for the 6870 but not the xfx. i heard that it does not overclock very well.
i got a visiontek and i get a p4820 after overclock. i don't play any of those games, though.another brand that overclocks well is sapphire. stock will net you about p4200.

Thanks everybody! Right now I think I'll pick a HIS 6870 then!
Also, anybody can tell me the clocks you have achieved on the 6870? So I can overclock it once I get it!

Thanks smile.gif you're awesome!
