Comparison ONE SSD Vs 2x 10K Raptor Drives in Raid 0

Thread Starter
So the question and testing here will be which one would be faster? A single SSD or 2x 10k Raptor drives in Raid0. If someone can provide me with what ever software I need to test my 10k raptors I will and I will then include my results here allowing us to compare them to a single ran SSD. I do not have an SSD so I would need a volunteer to test an SSD for me and include their results here. Basically just want to see which writes and reads faster.

I've got a 256GB Crucial M4 if you want me to test that. I'm pretty sure it will be faster. Use CrystalDiskMark to test.

Ok lets do it. I am going to download this program now and test mine and return with results.

Good. Here is mine. Just tested. I'm running Windows 7 Pro and I've got 40GB free of 238GB... if that matters any. thumb.gif

Just choose which logical drive (C:, D:, etc.) that you want it to use and just leave the default 5 100MB for consistency.

Here is my other RAID array, 2 Seagate 7200.12s. 500GB x 2.

Yeah at this rate your wiping me to hell LoL. I don't know if I am doing this write though. I am just installing stuff to the drives. How do you test?

Raids should show up in Windows/CDM As a single lettered drive, if it's your boot drive then it's still most likely C:. So just make sure your CDM window looks just like his settings wise and you're all set to run it!

As you can see from my screens there are 3 boxes that you can select options from. The first is the number of attempts, leave that at 5. The second is the size of the read/write. Leave that at 100MB. The last is the drive letter that you want it to test. Pick whichever drive letter your RAID 0 is. thumb.gif

run what? Is there something on the program you press that "benches" our hard drives?
