Nick

I am running my raid off of intel, off the Asus P8Z68-V Gen 3. I am going to see if I have any raid controllers I can drop in here and run them off those.

This is my normal non raided 7200RPM Storage drive. Going to drop from 1000MB to 100MB like suggested for my next Raid Test.

Ok seems like everyone on this topic got bored. I have no clue what is going on. My raid0 is running slower then my normal drive. =/

That should check and install any new Intel drivers,

You most likely need the latest Intel RST driver.

Or get it direct from here

So, sent you a PM but I might as well reiterate here.

The WD360 that OP is using is from 2003. 9 years of tech between that and a drive built today. That would be why the drives are not as fast as modern drives. thumb.gif

Yeah and also I think they are failing. I tried booting up just now and my computer bsod. I had to remove the raid drives in order to run again. Shoot I need to fix my bios setting.

RPM barely matters. It affects access times by a couple miliseconds. Where your Raptors are losing speed is platter density - and they're waaaay out of date in that regard.

What good is seeking to a file 20% faster if it takes 500% longer to do the sequential reading? tongue.gif

480

This is what I am seeing right now.

Those results are about what I'd expect from an array set to the wrong stripe size. You need to choose 16K or less for 36.6GB 3.5" Raptors. Newer 7200RPM drives can take stripe sizes between 64-256K, but those old Raptors like dislike anything over 16K.
