thanks, it seems you have some scratches too, also seems you damaged the TIM zone on the upper side, am i right?anyway my scratches probably are too deep, i don't know, i should know what that "00" code means...

Only 1 scratch on the wafer, not sure how the die held up, I think its okay.

You almost have to lap your heatsink or block if you want to avoid scratches. The die is basically made of glass.

But you may be OK even if you chip a corner off, cause they used to have a 50/50 chance of running just fine without one. thumb.gif

If you do it carefully you shouldn't even get close to the die... I was so worried about the top of the wafer.. Everytime you stick your razorblade under the IHS you have to pull it out to reposition it and the sound that makes is pretty horrible

Just know which way the die is oriented and make sure not to stick the blade in too far in those areas

Just out of curiousity why not use a heat gun to either make it easier or totally seperate the glue from the ihs. If it works on solder why wouldn't it work on glue
