rolleyes.gif IDK why anyone would attempt to remove a IHS by beating on a pocket knife... If you can afford to chance the chip, then you should be able to at least get a decent razorblade.

If you don't use Liquid Pro then it will probably do you no good. Liquid Pro is 100% metal, and that is the reason it would conduct MUCH MUCH MUCH better than any nonmetal TIM.
You might see a couple degrees difference with other TIM, but it would probably be a much greater difference if you used Liquid Pro TIM.

Doesnt seem like such a great idea to use a conductive paste directly on the die...

If you want to remove our product from your CPU / heatsink (for example if you sell), just dry it. What is not easily removed, can be removed using a metal polish, for example that
is used to polish the chrome parts for cars.
You now have a cooling system much more efficient thanks to "Coollaboratory Liquid Pro".
Note that applying Liquid Metal requires more attention than other conventional pastes, but
change will get much better performance! Someone with less experience in the field of hardware
paste choose another party that would offer far fewer benefits
and the performance oc Coollaboratory isnt great for having a solid TIM between IHS and die and if you dont clean it well you could damage the CPU
405

Not to mention MX-4 performs better than than most of the older paste in that test range... Best bet if OP had on hand would be probably prolimatech or phobya as they have great thermals, are easy to apply, and are not conductive.

If the op wants to spend the extra time I could mail some prolimatech pk-1 and/or phobya hegrease to further his scientific research with a roundup thumb.gif (in all seriousness i will send you some if you want just pm)

Lol thanks. I actually do have a variety of TIMs i can use, including some PK-1, but nothing from phobya.

I've also got AS-5, XSPC K2, MX-2, MX-4, and some Cooler Master paste.

Sorry it's taking so long, the damn windows installation failed and I had to do it again,

Does this only apply to the 3770K? What about the 3570K?

Well here are some of specs of the machine I'm going to be doing the tests on:

Maximus IV Gene-Z
3770K (Duh)
2 x 2 GB Mushkin 1600
7 64 Ultimate

As for the cooler I opted for a first generation Corsair H50.

Not the best choice but it was the only unit with a backplate that would fit under the motherboard inside the Fractal Design Arc Mini without having to remove the whole damn thing.

The fans that I'll be using are the Delta 3300 RPM 150-ish CFM fans.

I'll run two tests. First with everything on stock, second, with a 4.2 GHz OC, 1.3 volts, 50% LLC, and with all the power saving features disabled.

Prime95 Version 27.7
CPU-Z 1.60.1
Core Temp 0.99.8 (Newer ones are terrible with all the ads)

Between each tests (That i have to remove the CPU), I will be using Indigo Xtreme Clean to completely wipe the old TIM.

MX-4 will be used in the intial tests. Method of application is the simple small dot in the middle. After removing the IHS however, I will spread it evenly on the internal heatsink.

78 with changed TIM?

Aren't there people who're at 4.8 who get that temp?

I saw a dude on the forum who has 4.8ghz and a H100 p/p (same thing I ordered) and he gets like low 70s on all cores at load.

No, people at 4.8GHz are lucky to be under 90'C load.
