Do I Still Need to Follow These Steps for Driver Updates?

Thread Starter
I remember reading on here a couple years ago that when a new driver is released, it is best to uninstall Catalyst Control Center and the driver, then boot into safe mode, use Driver Sweeper, then install the new driver.

Is this necessary or have I been doing this unnecessarily for a while?

Thanks

Is it necessary? Depends on who you ask... But thats exactly how I do it. I prefer all the old crap gone before loading the new drivers thumb.gif

DON'T use driver sweeper, it removes crucial files needed for the new drivers you install. I learned the hard way and had to reformat. Best way: uninstall old drivers, reboot then install new drivers, reboot again and run CCleaner's registry cleaner afterwords.

I've never uninstalled the drivers before installing new ones. Haven't had any problems yet.
