I don't understand what your problem is, just leave it on whatever it's at?

You can boot to or install to an ssd in achi, ide, or raid.

You want to be in either raid or achi mode if using ssd's. Never ide mode for ssd's.

There are registry tweaks to go back and forth from ide to achi, or vice versa, no reinstall needed.

AHCI mode
Acronis should do the trick.
AHCI is nowadays a standard because it allows Hot Swap mode and NCQ (Native Command Queuing) for Hard Drives.
If you clean install windows you shouldn't have any problems.

If you can boot normaly (without trying to install Win7), try changing this registry setting =

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci

1.In the right pane, right-click "Start" in the Name column, and then click Modify.
2.In the Value data box, type 3, and then click OK.
3.On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor & reboot PC.

Note: AHCI mode would be "0"

Then try install Win7 & or change the BIOS to IDE mode, but i'm not sure if this will help?

Ok so what I would do in your case is do a completely clean install of W7 and use a newly burnt cd

Sean webster has a download of W7 that is legal and free smile.gif it is legal to download W7 and microsoft has it available, however it is not free to obtain a illegitimate key and use that to crack it. Just saying for clarification tongue.gif
http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds/0_20 (midway down on that page is the DL link)

Before you do the install go into your bios and set it to AHCI and then format the harddrive you want to install W7 onto. This will insure that you have a completely clean slate to work with.
-side note- you can set it to ide but that is an older version and your mobo should boot just fine with either installed and AHCI is the newer version of stuff and imo works better

Then once your install is done then you should be able to copy all your files back onto the drive and you're good to go. smile.gif I know this seems like a long process but once you've done it a few times it take very little time to finish everything. thumb.gif

I think everyone is doing there best to help, but it can be a bit complicated, especialy because we dont have the PC in front of us, so the only thing i can think of ATM, is to remove any possible faulty hardware/HDD.ect & get a fresh Win7 disc/image.

Good luck & hope you get it sorted out.

yeah thanks guys worst comes to worst ill clone it.

Your drive is dying? The recovery DVDs usually store most of the data on the dying HDD, for whatever reason. Rather pointless. rolleyes.gif

A fresh install is probably your best bet. If you don't have a Windows 7 DVD onhand, you'll have to follow Sean's guide to make one.

You could clone everything over, but cloning from a dying drive usually just causes more headaches later.
