Slow DDR3 Ram?! (Corsair CML8GX3M2A 1600 C9)

Heyho..
i posess this set - 2 x 4GB Corsair CML8GX3M2A 1600 C9
400
was testing my ram and it seems to be a little slow?!
this is what i got using xmp profile and manufacturer settings:

338
678333.jpg 768k .jpg file

Prime was off when i tested it..
i´m asking because i browsed the web to compare and i found this:
noticed the ratio is different.. but why? i assume they used 8-8-8-24 with the same voltage at 1600?

485
http://www.pcgameware.co.uk/corsai-vengenace-lp-8gb-review/

Can anyone tell me what the deal is?!
i will try 8-8-8-24 in the meantime

close as many progams and processes as posible, even AVs etc and try the test again with as little as possible RAM being used.. might give different result.. smile.gif

smex, I'm James from pcGameware.co.uk, I'm the guy who did the review that you are referencing...

Can't see too much wrong (to me the ratios look the same) in fact it all looks the same but you are running Z77, I was running P67. The read of the mem seems to be the big issue here and your level 3 cache latency also seems very high!?

Suggest you base clock the machine first and set non xmp settings and check again , if looks good wind up to XMP settings (1600MHz @ 9-9-9-24 1.5v) then take another look.

It may be a Z77 BIOS issue as the board and BIOS are both relatively new. Also maybe worth checking your RAM voltage, just in case...

Let us know how you get on...

P.S. Would have found this easier if you just commented on our review page...

looks like his imc is unstable, his L3 cache is at 15ns where normal should be no more than 4-5ns

i´m quite new to SB and 1155.. got my old q9300 to 3.800 stable but the voltages were too high 24/7 imo so i ran it @ 3.6
do you think this is more vcore or cpu pll related?! my cpu pll is 1.74 and my cpu offset is -0.040V i had no crashes with that.. i was standard priming custom blend (6gb) and llc for 10+ hrs but i had no time runnin 1344 and 1792 priming.. i will do this now.
what do you exactly mean ny unstable imc?

success..
it made me almost crazy. i set everything manually to stock..nothing. messed with every possible voltage.. nothing tried all kind of timings.. nothing.
then... i reset all to uefi defaults and there it was!

527

i really feel kind of stupid. i built so many rigs and never had some stupid problem like this.
the only difference to uefi default was that i had hardware prefetcher, no execute mem protection and the three cpu state supports disavled.
is it possible that this have something to do with the ram speed ( i guess HW prefetch / no execute mem prot?!?!?) ?!
again.. i feel kind of stupid because i never seen something like this.. even not on the web or at other peoples builds... :/

edit: i had some real trouble with this board.. it was undervolting until i updated the bios. it crashed and froze in windows idling, while booting and even in bios at stock settings. after flashing i had to rise the voltage a little bit because it kept undervolting and bsoding when playing games after about 5-20 minutes of playing mad.gif

i have no idea what the voltage is called on SB, on x58 its CPU VTT, check your user manual.

basically your cpu is lacking uncore voltage, that includes memory controller, L3 cache, pcie controller, and DMI controller, and will cause all sorts of instabilities.

VCCIO is the voltage SB's IMC uses.

Probably just a fluke due to all the crap running in the background in that screen shot.

lol? one win explorer window and one firefox window?!
pls read before blind guessing.. i made the final screenshot from above with the same programs open.
in my experience it even made a difference on my 775 q9300 system.
527

like i said.. i first reseted settings manually and afterwards reseted them in the uefi what made the difference.
hardware prefetcher and the c1-3 states and probably one or two settings i missed "only" changed
