Stress Test GPU

Thread Starter
I'm trying to find a program like prime95 for my gtx 570 I want to check if it's stable or not and benchmark the fps gain with more mhz to the core but my gpu has a safety feature where it throttles in furmark so it doesn't die. Is there another stress test software to check for instability?

Games usually saturate the cores if the cpu can prepare frames fast enough, but errors still get through.

The only things that easily show calculation errors are hashing applications that run entirely on the GPU (instructions are small enough to not need ram).

However, the only two hashing applications I know that report errors probably can't be discussed on these boards rolleyes.gif

In my experience with different cards, programs designed to test gpu's for stability are not really working well. They only heat the card much more then games will, and you risk bricking your card.
And at the end,you still won't know if your oc is stable or not smile.gif
Best way to test are one game I came accros over the years which seems to expose gpu unstability really well and 3dmark06. These will test your oc much better then furmark or kombustor or similiar programs.
Game in question is heroes of might and magic V ( and sequel VI also )
It will usually crash to desktop within 5-10 minutes if your oc is unstable. This happened numerous times on different cards with different overclocks on different computers with different os, cards which were rock stable playing crysis, crysis 2,battlefield 3,call of duty, skyrim, mass effect etc..for hours.

As for 3dmark,just loop "canyon flight" test for 10-15 minutes. It will also ctd if your gpu is unstable. If you pass half an hour of looping that test and half an hour of playing heroes,I guarantee you that your card is 100% stable

But,be prepared to be disapointed smile.gif
I can't really remember how many times I wandered if it's worth raising voltage, sometimes a lot, just so one game and 3dmark doesnt crash when everything alse works fine !

Try OC ScannerX, its pretty decent at finding GPU errors.

Heaven is also another one of my favorites

Does heaven crash on errors? Does oc scanner x work with gtx 580 and not throttle it back?

What he is asking is most stress testing apps. Like Evga oc scanner and furmark throttle down the 580 and 570 so you can't tell if it's a good oc. I used heaven recently on my 580 and no problems but I don't know if that means stable or not.

You need to register for OC Scanner and Kombuster crashes at the third item in the X-Score and P-Score benchmarks...

If you want to test your card, then run several things at the same time. Lets say BF3 and a movie. Furmark, 3dmakr and play a movie all at the same time.

You card may pass every single test when its ran by it self, but most of the time it will crash if you run multiple things at the same time.

So mix and match different software's and run any two at the same time. If your OC is unstable, it will crash your system every single time.
