The original Deathadder is fantastic. However, I cannot comment on the later models.

Definitely something to consider if you can find one somewhere.

The newer versions of the RAT, like the Albino 7, have the newer sensor. They are awesome, especially for FPS and even more especially for snipers.

One of the best and smoothest mice I have ever used.

Logitech used to have awesome durability.

Razor used to have horrible durability, but has gotten significantly better.

Corsair is newer to the mouse/keyboard market, but tends to have a very good product.

Grab a G700, I've been using it for around a year with a Razer Vespula mouse mat, smooth as silk. Had no problems since, fallen to the floor a couple of times, and still in great shape, not even a scratch on it.
