Which card to get: GTX 680 or 7970

Now I know there have probably been loads of these threads but I need a straight answer for my situation so here goes!

I can get a DCII 7970 for £354 shipped or a GTX 680 for £409 shipped but cant decide on which one to get!

I will be buying 2 of either when I decide plus blocks so I'm leaning towards the DCII as the 7970's are beasts under water and the GTX 680's have locked voltage control but is the GTX 680 worth the premium or maybe even the 690?

Now I know with the 690 I only have to factor in the cost of one block but its still not GTX 680 SLI performance, its as close as though.

My resolution is 1080p and I will not be going multi monitor though I am looking for the best minimum FPS I can get.

Thanks!

If your not going multi monitor then right now the gtx680 would be the popular choice

I know but they do not look WC friendly though I may look at the DCII GTX 670 if EK relaese a block for it

Yeah there really isn't a reason to get a 680 when the 670s are in stock and about 5-10% less performance for $100 less. I would go for a 670(or a pair of them if you want sli).

A GTX 680 or a HD7970 will both perform about equal after overclocks (the 7970 will win on water since it can clock higher on water, and the 680 is locked voltage). You're only at 1080p, and I assume 60Hz, so it really isn't going to matter, either card is complete overkill for you. I have a 7970 and I play at 2560x1600, and there's not one game (except GTA IV, The Witcher 2 with uber sampling, and Metro2033), that I can't max out completely.

How about a 7970 for £330?

It's a reference design as well, if you are going WC, then the cooler on it won't matter too much.

This is what I was looking for as price wise with all factors taken into account the 7970 is about £150 cheaper which is about $240

there are 670 with 680GTX PCB and you could put a 680GTX EK block on it
