[Videocardz]GeForce GTX 660 To Cost between $299 and $329

It seems that the rumors regarding the price of mid-range GeForce GTX 660 card, reported back in January, are true after all. According to OBR-Hardware GTX 660 is coming soon for at least $299.

GeForce GTX 660 will likely be the first card based on brand new Kepler GK106 chip. First leaks said that it will hold up to 768 CUDA cores gathered in 4 SMX clusters (architecture may actually be different from GK104).

interesting. with 768 of the same cores, this isn't going to outperform the 7870. it would almost definitely be slower.

no, it would be the same as 580GTX performance +/- which is the 7870 performance

This is my exact price-point, literally. How will it compare to the 7870?

This gens pricing is sooooo out of whack.

Core count is half that of a gtx 680, so if we want to make it lineary it should perform slower thana 7870. Maybe between 7850-7870 and be priced cheaper. Now only 1 thing could change this fact, is either the card will be clocked sooo high (which i assume), because cmon 1/2 the cores and lower number of mem chips and smaller bus, yet only 40w less power? I think this card will be clocked high and i mean 1200-1300 mhz stock. This might make it a winner, noone knows yet. Its a bit pricy to tell you the truth, gtx 460 was 250$s and also the 560 ti was 250$s.

First leaks said that it will hold up to 768 CUDA cores gathered in 4 SMX clusters (architecture may actually be different from GK104). But if the architecture is similar to high-end GK104 chip then it would hold 64 texture mapping units (TMUs) and 24 raster operating units (ROPs). This would be the card equipped with 1536 or 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory. GTX 660 will also have slightly shorter memory interface of 192-bit. It would consume around 130 Watts, from PCI-E slot and one 6-pin connector.

That's strange, previous rumors pointed to it using GK104 with more SMX's disabled.

should be around that level. that's ~42.5% less than a gtx670. being that gtx670 is 12.5% less cores than gtx680 and about 5-10% lower stock performance. the gtx660 should fall about 25-30% behind the gtx 670 with those specs. that's about where the 7870 is I guess. ultimately I do think it'll be around 5-8% behind a 7870. doesn't matter because the rumored price is awful just like the 7800's. I really wanted this to come out for $250.

Keep in mind that kepler is memory badwidth limited. GTX 660 is going to have 192-bit bus and 24rops which is only 25% lower than GTX 670/680

And in might have higher clock speed as well
