No, a HD6990 can't even saturate PCI-E 2.0 x8

yes i dont have a K chip......;(
But i will buy an Ivybridge on tuesday if It can really boost the performance of my card...by going utilizing 3.0, i can take advantage of adaptive sync.

PCIe 3.0 x8 shouldn't be a bottleneck.

so you saying, even if i don't upgrade my cpu to ivybridge, it wont make a difference? I'm not gonna go SLI because i dont plan to game on multiple monitors.....

I think everyone is referring to callsignvega's thread about how he tested pci3 vs pci2 on this quadsli? and noticed a big drop from pci3 to pci2.

He's also using quad SLI 680's, which 680's only support 3 way. And he was also using 8x lanes, not 16x. PCIe 2.0 x16 = PCIe 3.0 x8.

For the BIOS go to the ASrock website for the file and how to do it. If all you do is game I would save the money and get a 2500k and clock it at 4.6ghz.
