What I find interesting is that the 25w outperforms the 35w possibly a higher turbo?

I'm excited to hopefully replace my current monstrous rig with an sff equipped with trinity thumb.gif

"Notice how the IPC of the 2M/4T A10-4655m @ 2.3 ghz at least ties if not beats the IPC of K 10.5 Llano 2M/4T A6 which is also at 2.3 ghz turbo. This is good news for Trinity! If IPC matches Llano, Vishera - FX 8350 - at significantly higher clocks will scream ahead of ivy bridge when all threads can be used. Keep in mind IPC for current FX offerings fall far behind K10.5. (~25%).

Remember scaling on 2 module chip is roughly 20 percent less than a 4 core llano cpu, so the fact that performance is equal or better when all threads are used further shows the strength of piledriver."

Been waiting a while for these low price lightweight laptops. Now to decide whether I want to keep waiting for the 2nd revision of them. Hopefully no issues surface with the laptops themselves.

Please note that 35W TDP includes the GPU as well. Considering the GPU in trinity is pretty darn beefy, the CPU has much less room to play in than the CPU half of sandy bridge. Based on this reasoning, a 25w trinity system should have better battery life than a 25w sandy bridge unit.

And this was my point in a much earlier thread. No doubt Trinity will do okay in games but the CPU side of the chip is still a massive hindrance to it. Will be buying an Ivy ultrabook for sure. Not sure what I need GPU power in that kind of computer for anyway. BF3 at 720p/w low details at a janky 30FPS isn't exactly tempting. That's what my 360 is for.

These chips are aimed at lower end segments of the market, the mainstream market. Where the volume sales are. Since these should be at least about equal to llano in CPU tasks, why don't you show me where llano's CPU becomes a "massive hindrance"? I'll give you a hint, you won't find it. for 95% of the market who will be buying these, they have to run internet, watch movies, do facebook and facebook games, MS word, stuff like that. Even a P4 from years past with ram/gpu like current gen would suffice. For gamers and enthusiasts it won't be the best, but enthusiasts and gamers buy enthusiast/gamer systems and components anyway, so its a non-issue if there ever was one.

Arguing over AMD's lower performing CPU's at this point is simply wasting your breath. We all know even the lowest end modern CPU is usually enough for 95% of the market. Now give them half decent ram, a nice GPU and an SSD, and they will think they are on a $1K+ system, even if it costs only $500.

The A10-4655M is a 25W APU. The A10-4600M is a 35W CPU, and will have 2.3ghz base clock / 3ghz turbo clock. So, 15% higher base, 30% higher turbo...

Basically, these can go in any ultraportable laptop, they might wind up in something like a Thinkpad X120e (there's also 15W or 17W Trinity's, so those will go into some "netbooks" perhaps some ultraportables). Instead of consumers paying $1000-1300 for what's basically as useful as a netbook (Macbook Air, ahem), they can get better graphics, and good enough CPU performance for $5-600 in a similar chassis.
