Help building new Rig

Thread Starter
Alright guys a few months back I sold the Rig that was in my sig to buy a Macbook Pro for classes.

Now with Diablo 3 coming out I am again wanting a gaming PC so asking for OC's help once again on another build. I do photography as a hobby so I do a lot of editing using lightroom/photoshop so gaming is not all that this is going to be used for. My budget is $1000 but I can push another $100-$200 if needed.

So far.

CPU: I5 3570k http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388577

Mobo: Asrock z77 Extreme 4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157294

Ram: 2x 4g Vengence vs Gskill Ripjaws?

PSU: Corsair Tx750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021

GPU: I was thinking going with a 560TI again but with the new GTX6XX on the market I'm not sure.

HDD: I was thinking this http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0375256

SSD: Not sure if I'm going to go SSD but I will certainly do it if it fits in budget I was thinking Crucial M4

CPU Cooler: I loved how quiet it was having a Corsair H60 so I was thinking of a H60 again.

Keyboard: I still have my G19

Mouse: I still have my deathadder

Monitor: I loved my old viewsonics but I'm thinking of something a little bigger maybe 24"

OS: I have my copy of win7 ultimate still

Case: I like the 600T

The video card difference in price is huge. the 560TI is like 200-250 while the GTX6XX series is upwards in the 400+ and the GTX 660 Ti isnt released yet. It all depends on how much you want to commit to your GPU.

Personally, I don't like Hitachi hard-drives but if it works and has a warranty then why not. It is the cheapest for it's specs.

I like GSKILL. their company has always been good to me. You might get people trying to convince you to go with SAMSUNG memory for the OC capability.

Everything else looks fine, Case is personal preference.

that PSU is overkill indeed. a 600W bronze should be good enough to power everything. Keep looking on newegg for deals. I think you should be able to shave 40 dollars off just on the PSU.

If this is a gaming computer indeed 4GB of ram is enough. get them at 1600 . go with Gskill Vengence. they have Excellent customer service.

Again. this game rig is used to play D3...which is NOT a visually demanding game. everything you have listed is over kill for this game. So you can even tone it down a little big If i were you.

You should really check out daily deals and combo deals on the egg. I shaved off 100 bucks on my sig rig just getting them in combos biggrin.gif !!

Good Luck.

PSU may indeed be overkill with that current build, but when i look at buying a PSU I want best bang for buck, super good quality, and room for expansion. If he ever wanted to go to SLI/xfire he wouldnt need to buy another PSU.

PSU is overkill for the single 560ti, go a bit lower and you'll save a few bucks. If you're sure you want to go 8GB @ 1600MHz i'd pick GSkill over the Veng because it's cheaper and it delivers the same performance.

You don't need liquid cooling for your cpu, here you can also save a few dollars and get yourself a CoolerMaster Hyper212 EVO. ($35)

Hope this helped! Good luck with the build smile.gif

Thanks guys. Let me rephrase a little bit.

What I mean by I do not plan on upgrading for a while is that I plan to keep this computer for a while I might do a upgrade by going SLI which is why I picked a higher PSU. But that would be the only thing in the future I plan on upgrading unless I cannot fit a SSD in budget and buy that down the road.

As far as the Liquid I used to have it and I loved how I did not hear it vs that stock cooler how is the sound of the hyper212 evo compared to the Corsair H line up as far as sound? Being quiet is at the top vs performance honestly.

Now as far as the CPU my friend is stationed 1hr from the microcenter in OC/tustin so I would have to wire him the cost + shipping + gas(he gets 40mpg+ so he doesn't mind). Now locally at my frys electronics they have the CPU for $229.99 + 8.9% tax weighting in the difference in cost I might buy locally for $229 instead than microcenter.

Also thanks for the suggestion on Ram.

I might be building this for D3 now but I want to be able to throw anything at it for future games so that's why it seems a little bit overkill I currently play MW3 also
