I see no point in getting Ivy Bridge since it has higher heat and less power consumption. Not to mention it has around a 3% performance increase which is NOT worth the 50 dollars.

Feel free to make any suggestions, my budget is 1200 excluding Win7.

I think you should spend an extra bit and get an SSD, specifically a Crucial M4. besides that, looks good.

idk if pci-e 3.0 matters to you or not I hear cards can't use the bandwidth of 2.0 even and by the time they do maybe this computer will be old news but thats one thing ivy has...

I am getting Z77 to utilize Lucid Virtu MVP, by using Virtual VSync which can help. And personally, I don't want to fork over 90 dollars for a 64 GB SSD, and all you can do is slap your OS and 2-3 programs, not worth the 90 dollars. I can wait. I don't spend my time booting up things.

A 680 does not get bottlenecked by a PCI 2.0 8x slot (as far as I can find.)
Since he is using a 670 I do not think that not utilising pci 3.0 is going to be a problem...
anyway, if haswell is still 1155 socket based and I am hoping it is a tad more useful than IB it should be an upgrade worth getting for that motherboard.

as for ssd I really like the mushkin chronos I got for $118 120gb and I know others do to. . I just don't see a point in buying old tech when new stuff is out but thats just me I guess the 2500k is $50 cheaper then you could just go to haswell or wait again... .

OS and a few programs? I have Windows 7 Professional installed on the SSD, Office, CS6 Design Premium, a handful of Autodesk programs, and I've only used up around 45GB. Not to mention you could put programs on another drive. I don't see why you're so close minded about a recommendation when that's what you asked for... Oh well. Once you own an SSD you can never go back, I've never heard of one other person saying different.
