A small part of my motherboard got scratched :o

Thread Starter
A tiny part of the back of my motherboard was scratched by one of the screw mounts and a tiny bit of copper is showing. I haven't even got to test it yet. Is the scratch patchable or is the board dead now??

I scratched my old gigabyte am3 board, and the copper was showing. I just hooked it up and it worked fine. Not saying you will have the same experience, but all you can do is try! thumb.gif

Here are pics (sorry for the blurry quality)

There are 2 small spots of copper along some printed wires on this first pic:

600

The rest of the scratch is zig-zag style on the board's enamel coating, showing white marks:

More superficial than anything, looks to be that you'll be OK. Just try and find out.

if you cover it with anything do it with fingernail polish. it will stop it from oxidizing. do not use any kind of silver or metal based sealer or anything. it will short them out and mess it up.
