cut wire to h100, any way to fix it?

Hey all, so I just did possibly one of the dumbest things in my life. I was trying to cut a tie wrap in order to improve my cable management, and I accidentally snipped the wire to the Corsair H100. I realized this after I booted the machine, and it said CPU over temperature on the American Megatrends screen. First of all, is my processor fried? If not, is there anyway I can mend the wires together such that the H100 will be resurrected? Let me know, thanks.

Just cut them and splice them back together. Out some heat-shrink tubing on it and shrink it around the wires to cover them up. If you have a soldering iron, you can do it that way. Just make sure to put the heat-shrink on the wires first though. Could you show a picture where it is cut at? Thanks

Nooo........ Your processor is not fried. People need to calm down on these kind of things. Your processor should throttle at 95 celcius, therefore shutdown to prevent any serious damage. Reaching 95 celcius once doesn't have any harm at all. As long as it isn't running at such high temperatures for a long time, it'll be fine.
I guess the only way to fix the wire is to solder it.

Your chip is fine. There are threads where people try to kill their chips with no HSF at all, just the IHS and case airflow. They will simply shut down before doing any harm 99.99% of the time.

As for the wire, just strip the ends, put on the shrink tube, twist the wires together and solder if available, then move the shrink tube over and cover. Done. Might have been a nerve wracking moment, but as long as you have wire to work with and didn't cut it off at the pump or something, you'll be fine.

Your chip is fine. They have protection built into them to prevent them overheating and dyeing. As for the cable, just solder, tie them back together and it will work fine again.

Thanks everyone, can't tell you how reassured I feel now. The two wires I cut were the ones going to the molex plug.700

your cpu is fine. all cpu's these days have built in protection that turns off automatically when temperatures gets to dangerous levels.

that's real easy to fix. get a pair of scissors and tape. you can fix that in 5 minutes

Could I just use an insulated butt connector? As opposed to soldering + heat shrink?

id just put an electrical connector on those and either heat shrink it or go the cheap ghetto way and throw some electrical tape over it. it should work just fine.

A butt connectors will be fine and wrap it with some electrical tape to make it blend in. Just make sure to keep the striped white wire with the other and black to black. Thanks
