Safely Remove Hardware Icon. - Page 2

Any sata drive will appear there. and it will always be there.

External or main boot drive, it will show up!

The only way to get rid of it is to change some registry keys..google it if you're crazy...

Yeah its definatly my internal Seagate 300 gig. I had thought I hooked up my external to my computer at some point, but I definatly haven't. And yeah I'm that crazy I guess, its annoying enough to me to drive me up a wall. I also tried to 'hide inactive icons' and that didn't work.

You can only hide it. Right click the taskbar, click properties, click customize at the bottom of the taskbar tab, highlight the item in question then use the dropdown menu to "Always hide"

Just tried to make the icon always hide, didn't work. This picture is after I restarted too.

I had this exact problem with my new Seagate 320 SATA last week. It drove me crazy. Its gone now, I dont know exactly why it stopped, but I did a fresh install of windows and put the drive on a different SATA connector

Really, interesting. I actually haven't had this problem since I've had this drive until recently when I reinstalled Windows. Next time I open up my computer, which will be within a day or two, I'll try a different SATA connector.

I hate to bring up an old topic but this problem is driving me crazy. I tried a different SATA connector with no avail, if anyone has any other ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My "Safely Remove Hardware" icon (Windows XP)has disappeared and I've tried everything I know of to restore it to the taskbar. In the taskbar Properties I have it flagged as "Always Show" along with other icons, but it does not appear in the taskbar when using any USB device

Ahaha i found it.

I should write a faq since so many people whining about this

Ok download and install this program. Run it and go to options > system and make sure "Always hide the safely remove hardware icon" is marked. Than uninstall the program.
